In Ruins, A Roman Portrait

5.75 x 8.5 in. tan paper, graphite and white charcoal portrait drawing. Walking around the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I saw a statue of a Roman athlete. The soft features mixed with it’s harsh decay, made me want to draw this portrait. The unconventional cropping and tilt of the face I feel adds to it’s floating, dream like state.
